Letter from visitng OV  - Kevin Todd

 Dear Worshipful Brother Ted,

Shirley Hills Lodge No 7369

I must offer my sincere thanks to you, the Worshipful Master, and all the Brethren of Shirley Hills Lodge for the usual very warm and friendly welcome you gave me at your Lodge meeting yesterday, and also the sociable hospitality afterwards at the Festive Board.

Ted, I would like to particularly thank you for all your help and support with the arrangements before the meeting and on the day - it really is appreciated. My congratulations must again go to W. Bro Alan Lampard on his forthcoming promotion - which I know is fully deserved.

As I stated both in the Temple and at the Festive Board, I thoroughly enjoyed all the work that was carried out at the meeting. The Worshipful Master, W. Bro Steve Murphy, is to be congratulated for carrying out the Second Degree in such an assured fashion and also to Bro Tony Rogers for his superb explanation of the Second Degree Tracing Board – it really was a delight to listen to. All in all – this was a most impressive demonstration of the obvious hard work that was undertaken prior to the meeting and I feel sure that Bro Keith Watkins is also grateful for all the obvious hard work that was undertaken for his benefit. The Junior Deacon is also to be congratulated on his prompting without the aid of a book – he shows promise.

The Lodge is definitely to be congratulated on having an Initiate for the next meeting in June – that really is good news. I am very conscious of the amount of money the Lodge donates to various charities, and your Charity Steward - I am sure you will agree - must take some of the credit for the amounts which you are able to raise for these various good causes.

I feel that I may have been somewhat premature in announcing that I was to step down as your Official Visitor this year – as your Junior Deacon appears to have other ideas about that. Regardless, I intend to visit the Lodge in a private capacity for your next meeting in June – and await a call from the Lodge informing me of what work you may require me to undertake on that occasion.

It really is a pleasure and a privilege to be your Official Visitor.

Yours sincerely and fraternally

Kevin Todd MBE, PProvSGW
